The concierge position often creates the first and last impression of a building. Our approach protects that experience without weakening security. Officers welcome authorised visitors, understand expected activity, apply access procedures consistently and respond calmly when a request or behaviour falls outside the agreed standard.

This is not ordinary reception cover presented under a security label. The role is built from the site risk assessment and assignment instructions, with responsibilities for access, visitors, deliveries, contractors, keys, alarms, incidents and handover made clear before deployment.

In the UK, a concierge role can include licensable security activity. Where duties include guarding premises against unauthorised access, damage or disorder under a contract for services, personnel must hold the appropriate current SIA licence. We define the function properly and allocate appropriately SIA-licensed officers whenever the role requires it.

Clients receive a service standard that covers presentation, communication, confidentiality and customer care as well as vigilance. Personal smartphone use is not accepted during operational duty. Approved communication or site systems are used when required.

What effective security concierge delivery looks like

The officer should know who is expected, what access is permitted, when to seek authority and how to preserve a calm environment while maintaining boundaries. Site induction, post instructions and supervisory contact are therefore fundamental.

Reporting should help the client improve the operation. Repeated access issues, unusual behaviour, procedural weaknesses and recurring contractor problems can be identified and discussed rather than disappearing into an unread occurrence book.

Does a security concierge need an SIA licence?

Where the role includes licensable guarding activity under UK law, the officer must hold the appropriate current SIA licence. We assess the actual duties rather than relying on the job title alone.

Is this the same as a receptionist?

No. A security concierge can provide a polished welcome, but the function is designed around protection, access, vigilance, escalation and accountable security delivery.

Can the service match our building standards?

Yes. Presentation, visitor experience, communication style, access procedure, contractor handling and reporting are agreed around the property and its occupants.

Can security concierge work with CCTV?

Yes. Where appropriate, front-of-house activity can be coordinated with on-site CCTV, access systems and other officers under clear procedures.
